A place for everything and everything in it's place. Doesn't always work that way, but I find the more things I have a designated place for, the more likely they are to be there when I need them.

Laundry (getting it sorted and getting it done)
Kids in general
Clothes (storage of what doesn't fit yet)
In the closet
Color coding (how to identify what belongs to who)
Socks (sorting, storing)
